Mesalt is a sodium chloride dressing that is used to stimulate the cleansing of discharging wounds. It consists of a soft viscose/polyester, nonwoven material impregnated with sodium chloride. Mesalt absorbs wound exudate, and the sodium chloride is released. Mesalt becomes hypertonic, thereby exudate, bacteria and necrotic material is drawn into the dressing, facilitating the natural wound healing process. The dressings are packed folded.
